AROUND THE EXHIBITION HOP!
Artists have plenty of tricks up their sleeve when it comes to representing movement, be it stillness, frenetic, wavy or resonant. Taking some twenty works from the museum collection as a starting point, HOP! is an exhibition tailor-made for children aged between 6-12 years and is designed to stimulate the senses! Moving away from usual conventions, this exhibition puts the work within reach of the children and gives the adult a new take on art.
At the centre of the exhibition, child-height furniture offers a space for relaxation and exploration as well as a panoramic view of the work. Young visitors can discover work at their own pace, using sensory boxes for touch, sound and smell and draw with their fingers. Instructions are intuitive, but for optimal group discovery, it is important to orientate the children, in small groups, towards the different activities proposed. If you choose a non-guided tour, the instruction folder will show you how to structure this exploration so that you can enjoy it as much as possible with your class.
In a neighbouring room, the HOP-lab invites young and old to explore movement with their bodies. An interactive video installation from PIMPAMPET Collective shows choreography corresponding to the eleven words that run through the theme of the exhibition. Please note: this installation is only accessible if you choose the ‘Animated Tour’ option.
Objectives of the visit:
- Discover art in an intuitive and playful way
- Explore movement: in art, with your body, in vocabulary
- Exhibition for children vs exhibition for adults: the rules of the museum remain the same for all. Let's find out what they are and learn to respect them.

Paris is very small according to Prévert. Let's take an hour to go around with Robert Doisneau and his poet friends. During this visit, we will see the photographs of this famous French photographer. AROUND THE PERMANENT COLLECTION
SHOCK TRIO
Activity for children from 6 to 10 years.
Bring your students to the discovery of colour! Cyan, magenta and yellow - the three musketeers of painting are at your service! Make your ranges and discover the tones that best enhance your work.
Progress of the Activity
The observation of abstract and expressionist works opens a reflection on the singularity of the colours and allows the children to understand the concepts of flatness, transparency and polychromy. The workshop is based on the notions discovered during the visit. Inspired by a work of their choice, children are guided to associate emotion and colour. Through the exercise of painting, they move away from a chromatic (colourful) palette and thus experience the rejection of the same colour.
Key competencies required
- Identify and name the colours (primary, secondary, complementary colours) and their components.
- To express an emotion felt in front of a work and to translate it into another artistic language.
- Translate a personal perception.
Interactive guided tour of 1h or tour with workshop lasting 1h30.
